The general election on May 6th will bring electoral reform to the centre of debate. Different
parties and groups support different voting systems. But most of us don’t know
what these systems might mean in elections. The models and projections we see in
the media about what might happen are based on a lot of guesswork.
The Alternative Election is an impartial attempt to gauge the views of the UK electorate around polling day. The data will then be made available to anyone taking part to see what
it tells us and give us a much better understanding of the different systems being debated.
We hope that will throw up lots of interesting findings and that that in turn will result in a more informed debate.
